Embark on a fascinating 2-hour scenic drive along the stunning Andøya Peninsula, covering a distance of approximately 120km. While on the drive, keep an eye out for whales and sea eagles, which are frequently spotted in the area. Take advantage of several photo opportunities along the way, including a lighthouse and stretches of picturesque coastline.
Andøya Space is the only operative space centre in Norway where the likes of NASA, ESA and other space agencies launch research rockets into the upper atmosphere. It is home to the Spaceship Aurora interactive education centre. Delve into the world of Aurora Borealis and gain an in-depth understanding of the science behind this natural phenomenon. As well as 2 Northern Lights films you will engage with exhibits and then embark on a simulated aurora research mission aboard Spaceship Aurora. If your mission is successful and you make it back from Earth orbit you can browse space and aurora-related souvenirs in the small shop. This centre offers an exciting and educational experience for people of all ages.
There are limited restroom options for us to stop at whilst en-route but there are also toilet facilities at the space centre.
