NEW 19-23 February 4-night Northern Lights Holiday

19-23 February 2025

Join our 4 night winter trip in February to chase the aurora borealis by night and experience the Arctic day with our exciting daytime activities for all ages. Our base will be in Vesterålen, which is a fantastic location allowing us to spend the daytime visiting some of the most picturesque locations in the region.

As well as Aurora Chasing, this trip also includes an eagle safari, Sami culture & reindeer experience, and a husky dog-sledding experience.

The average temperature at this time of year is -2ºC or 28ºF. At this time of the year we will normally have frequent snowfall and ice, with snow permanently settled on the ground.

Arrival

Upon arrival at Harstad-Narvik (EVE) airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your cabin accommodation. The journey time is approximately 3 hours. Dinner is not provided on this first evening but there will be opportunities to buy food en route from the airport to your accommodation.

If weather and aurora conditions are good then we will plan to chase the lights tonight. There may even be an opportunity to view them whilst travelling from airport.

Please see the ‘How to Get Here’ tab above for information on the flights you can choose to arrive on.

Sami Culture & Reindeer Experience

Today is a more relaxing day for you with only a small amount of travelling. After a leisurely morning we will drive approximately 60km (1 hour) to Hinnoya, where you will learn about Sami history and culture, enjoy a homemade hot lunch and of course meet and feed the resident reindeer.

We will return to your accommodation after lunch at the reindeer farm and then the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax.

After dinner we will again plan to go in search of the Northern Lights.

Sea Eagle & Wildlife Safari

Today is all about the wildlife, notably the majestic White-Tailed Sea Eagle. After a presentation about the sea eagles you will board a boat and sail out amongst the smaller islands along the coast in search of sea eagles. This excursion has never failed to deliver incredible photo opportunities and is the best way to get close to the sea eagles in their natural habitat.

Upon returning to the harbour you will enjoy a tasty hot soup lunch and then you can relax for the rest of the afternoon.

Tonight is another chance to see the Northern Lights so we will plan to go out once more.

Husky Dogsledding

Today we will drive approximately 50km (1 hour) to the Sortland Wilderness Centre, home to 35 Alaskan huskies!

After meeting and getting to know your canine transport you will embark on an unforgettable dog sled ride through Vesterålen’s stunning Arctic wilderness.

A packed lunch will be provided to you today and following your husky experience a packed lunch will be provided for you to eat before we make our way back to your accommodation.

After dinner at your accommodation we will again plan an aurora chase.

Return Journey

After an early breakfast we will travel back to Harstad-Narvik airport, arriving in time for you to meet your flight home. Journey time is approximately 3 hours.

Please see the ‘How to Get Here’ tab above for information on the flights you can choose to depart on.
